Welcome to the website of the Institute for Technical Microbiology
The Institute for Technical Microbiology studies microorganisms, the workhorses of classical and modern biotechnology. Our institute is devoted to both research and teaching and we do our best to provide our students with a firm background in biology as well as in engineering sciences. We employ a wide range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques to discover and analyze genes and enzymes of primary and secondary metabolism in aerobic bacteria (MACK GROUP). In addition we are concerned with the analysis and control of microbial growth, the biodegradation of pollutants and modeling of bioreactions.
